City and county launch joint housing code update focused on state compliance and 'missing middle'

City and county planning staff and consultants presented a code audit and a plan to update zoning inside the Klamath Falls urban growth boundary to meet state requirements and expand 'middle housing' options such as ADUs, duplexes, cottage clusters and townhomes.

City and county planning staff opened a joint work session to review findings from a consultant-led code audit and to solicit feedback on draft directions for zoning updates within the Klamath Falls urban growth boundary. Joe, the city planning manager, said the project is "first and foremost, state compliance," and that the teams handed hundreds of pages of code to the consultant to identify gaps and conflicts.
