Council hears $16M in grant-backed capital projects and timelines

City staff presented a quarterly capital improvement update detailing projects completed in 2526 and plans underway.

Alana Valencia, a city staff member who led the briefing, said the city had been awarded about $16,000,000 in grants for a range of projects and that the majority of projects were 50%–80% grant-funded. "We were either awarded prior or in that year, a total of $16,000,000 in grants towards these projects," Valencia said. She told council the city spent $6,600,000 on capital projects in 2526 and that about 80% of those projects were grant-funded.

The presentation described completed water, street and park projects and ongoing efforts including a transportation system plan, water master plan and Blue Heron Park master plan. Staff emphasized that some timelines depend on outside approvals and weather; for example, wetlands issues have delayed certain road connections in the PH5 area and some park work may be constrained by bird-habitat seasons.

The city manager and councilors discussed next steps for public outreach on street overlays and parking plans and asked staff to bring back procurement details and schedules. No formal council action was required for the overview.
