Deputy County Manager Trisha Johnson and compliance coordinator Mike Rhodes reviewed a work session focused on aligning chapters of the county code to improve abatement efficiency and to clarify who handles lien reductions and appeals. Rhodes said the changes would reaffirm that lien reductions and waivers should be handled by the special magistrate and code‑enforcement board (sections 3.20 and 3.21) and recommended eliminating an application fee structure that can impose as much as $700 to appeal a denial — a barrier, staff said, for owner‑occupied properties.
