Monroe County lawmakers approve Operation Stone Garden grant, 8-2
The Ways and Means Committee voted 8-2 to accept a State Division of Homeland Security grant for Operation Stone Garden and authorized intermunicipal agreements with Greece, Irondequoit and Webster after debate and public comment.

The Ways and Means Committee approved referral 26-0228 to accept grant funding from the New York State Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Services for Operation Stone Garden by roll call vote, 8-2. Legislator Yudelson moved the measure and urged colleagues to accept the funding, saying the agreement "does not obligate the sheriff's office to conduct immigration enforcement activities," a point he attributed to assurances from Chief Deputy Fowler.
