Commissioners preliminarily approve $60 annual solid-waste fee increase after hearing on site operations

Sep 8, 2026

After a public hearing on solid-waste finances and transportation contract cost pressures, the board moved to preliminarily approve a $60 annual base-unit fee increase effective 01/01/2027; a formal resolution is on first reading and the matter returns for second reading.

The full story

The county held a public hearing on a proposed $60 per-year increase in the annual base/unit fee for the Granite County solid-waste district. Staff and commissioners explained that rising contract transport and disposal costs have strained the budget; the county had to supplement the solid-waste fund this fiscal year (discussed amounts were in the ~$200,000 range). The proposal would take effect Jan. 1, 2027, with tax statements reflecting the change in November 2027.
