County says Northern Corridor/US-231 connection remains conceptual; staff plans RFP for white paper
Staff told the Citizens Participation Committee that the Northern Corridor (commonly thought of as a US-231 extension) is still a conceptual connector with no INDOT commitment; staff has drafted a white-paper scope and hopes to issue an RFP this summer to study alignments, environmental issues and funding options.

County staff presented an update on the Northern Corridor connection, the long-discussed link roughly described as a US-231 extension through the northern growth area. The Chair emphasized INDOT has not committed to the project and that any map alignment shown is a conceptual placeholder; the connector could ultimately be a locally controlled road rather than a state route.
