Commission approves Price's Pointe expansion: variances, alternative design and development plan cleared

The Planning Commission approved a package of approvals for Price's Pointe, an 11.88‑acre project including variances to reduce cul‑de‑sac radii, alternative design standards and concept and development plans for up to 40 detached houses.

Counsel for the applicant, Taylor Forrester, described the project as an extension of earlier approved developments along the French Broad River and said the variances met the hardship criteria in the zoning ordinance. County engineering reviewed and recommended approval of the variances and alternative design standards. Commissioner Levinson moved to approve each variance, the alternative design, the concept plan subject to 12 conditions, and the development plan subject to two conditions; each motion carried on voice votes.
