City leaders reported adoption of the city's first urban forestry master plan (a tree inventory and canopy-expansion goals) and said they are pursuing a trust-land transfer to acquire Shelton View Forest for a new city park.

Mayor Mason Thompson announced Bothell's first urban forestry master plan, saying city staff catalogued every city tree by species and size and set aggressive canopy-expansion targets. He said the city hired a full-time position to manage the program and is prioritizing canopy preservation as housing increases.
