Councilors voted Dec. 15 to adopt a resolution making the town part of the Virginia 250 programming and to establish an official committee for the anniversary events. The resolution also satisfied a requirement for a grant the town submitted to the Virginia Tourism Corporation seeking marketing funds for the planned June event weekend (June 12–14).
