Committee approves job-grade changes for prosecutor and construction-codes offices
Sep 12, 2026
Staff presented recommended restructures: the prosecutor's office would move an administrator to grade 9 and create two grade-6 division coordinator positions (estimated cost ~$35,005, partially offset by retiree savings). Construction codes would add an office manager (grade 6), permit specialist (grade 4) and promote a lead building inspector to grade 9; staff said soil erosion responsibilities will be tracked in a separate fund starting Jan. 4.

Staff summarized two staffing restructures that the committee approved. For the prosecuting attorney's office, staff reported evaluation results recommending an administrator at grade 9 (matching the public defender administrator) and two division coordinator positions graded at 6; staff estimated implementation costs around $35,004.73 and noted retiree benefit savings could offset some of that amount. "In total... we're estimating $35,004.73," staff said during the presentation. Commissioners moved and approved the change and discussed timing and budget amendment options.
