Council tables open-burning code amendment after fire-district briefing

Councilmembers heard the St. Maries Fire District explain permit rules and restrictions for open burning, fielded a resident complaint about the proposed map, and voted to table an ordinance change to Harrison City Code §3-2-4.

The council received a briefing from the Fire Chief of the St. Maries Fire District about proposed open-burning requirements. The chief told the council that "burn permits are required at all times within St. Maries city limits and must be kept on-site while burning. Permits are issued only after a site inspection and approval by the fire district and are valid for up to ten (10) days," and that burning can be restricted for fire danger or air-quality reasons.
