May 26, 2026
County staff were authorized to apply for the FY2025 State Criminal Alien Assistance Program (SCAP) reimbursement; staff said prior reimbursements ranged from about $9,864 to $39,231 in recent years and that the application is for eligibility only rather than a specified amount.
The full story
County staff asked the court to authorize submission of an application for the FY2025 State Criminal Alien Assistance Program (SCAP) to seek reimbursement for costs associated with incarcerating undocumented criminal aliens during the reporting period. Staff explained the application is the eligibility step — the application itself does not state an award amount; if the county is awarded funds it will then provide supporting cost documentation. Past reimbursements were cited as $19,478 (2020), $14,785 (2021), $38,677 (2022), $39,231 (2023) and $9,864 (2024).
