County crews continue patching; commissioners question state spraying on highways

Road & Bridge crews reported ongoing asphalt patching, culvert replacements, completion of the HRRR painting on Mission Valley Road, and plans to replace a low-water crossing off Old K-10. Commissioners raised concerns that KDOT has not kept up with roadside spraying and asked staff to consider bidding spraying along state highways (excluding the Interstate).

Road & Bridge Superintendent Josh Hinch told the commission crews are continuing asphalt patching and culvert replacements across Wabaunsee County and expect to replace a low-water crossing west of Alma off Old K-10 later in the week. Hinch said Heartland is striping Mission Valley Road this week, the final step of the HRRR project, and Commissioner Nancy Hier noted the striping on Maple Hill Road looks good.
