Committee advances procurements for bus software, replacement wheels and 219 buses

The committee moved three NYC Transit procurement items forward to the full board: a $40.2M noncompetitive maintenance contract with Clever Devices, a $7.4M wheels contract for 3,000 subway car wheels, and an option to buy 219 buses for $257.6M; committees approved sending the items to the board.

Staff presented three procurement packages for NYC Transit and the committee voted to carry them forward to the full board. Procurement staff described a proposed 5-year, $40,200,000 noncompetitive contract with Clever Devices to provide maintenance and support for the intelligent vehicle network system that runs on the bus fleet. Tim Mulligan then described a $7,400,000 estimated-quantity contract awarded to Standard Steel for 3,000 subway-car wheels to respond to accelerated wheel wear. Finally, staff proposed an option exercise to purchase 219 buses (161 diesel-electric hybrids and 58 clean diesels) from New Flyer for a total estimated amount of $257,600,000.
