Probation director outlines training, STRIVE grant and assurances for Project MORE residents

Probation Director Kathy McQuaid described a new state-provided supervisory training program, a DCJS STRIVE grant to reduce intimate partner violence, and plans to rehouse the few remaining Project MORE residents by December 31 as the transitional contract ends.

Kathy McQuaid, Director of Probation and Community Corrections, told the committee the department is participating in a new Division of Criminal Justice Services supervisory training pilot and has received a DCJS STRIVE grant for a targeted reduction in intimate partner violence in partnership with the sheriff, district attorney and local police. She said juvenile units have administered approximately 150 trauma screening assessments to youth ages 16' 17 over the last two years.
