Library director urges Dutchess County to restore 'All Abilities' funding cut

The Red Hook Public Library director and the county library association asked the Legislature to restore a 50% cut to the All Abilities program and to reinstate a predictable county line item to support countywide library services.

Alex Geller, director of the Red Hook Public Library and speaking for the Dutchess County Library Association, asked legislators to restore full funding to the All Abilities program after a 50% cut applied to county contractors in the proposed 2026 budget. "Our grant through Dutchess County Department of Mental Health was cut by 50%, a cut that was applied to other contractors throughout the county in the 2026 budget," he said.
