Town supervisor: rising EMS contract costs underscore need for county-coordinated system

A town supervisor told the Legislature that a three-town EMS contract will jump from $511,000 to $696,000 next year — a 35% increase — and urged county coordination to ensure consistent, sustainable emergency medical services across Dutchess County.

Chris Kenning, supervisor of the Town of Northeast and treasurer of the Supervisors and Mayors Association of Dutchess County, asked legislators to consider a county-coordinated EMS system to provide consistent, sustainable service across municipalities. "Our belief is that the only effective and efficient way to ensure a consistent, sustainable, and quality EMS services across Dutchess County is through a county coordinated system," he said.
