Riverside County planning staff warned applicants and residents about fraudulent emails, invoices and calls impersonating the county, urging people to 'pass the check' and to contact the planning or building department to verify any invoice before paying.

Riverside County planning staff opened the meeting with a public-service announcement advising applicants and residents to verify any invoices or email requests for payment with the county before sending funds. The planning director said the county will "verify that it was actually sent from the planning department or building and safety before you pay it."
