The board recognized county staff who led a rapid implementation of an electronic permitting platform. Tammy Keizer explained Macon County had struggled to find a suitable platform and after terminating a stalled contract the county signed with GovWell in March 2026 and "33 days later, we launched our first module," with the building permits module live within 62 days.
