Dolores County commissioners adopted Resolution 06-36-02 imposing a four-month moratorium on new land-use and subdivision application acceptance and processing while staff rewrites the county's development code to incorporate subdivision regulations and add an affordable housing fast-track.

County planning staff told the board that the subdivision regulations have not been updated since 1998 and that recent state legislative mandates and wildfire-related rules require code changes; staff proposed incorporating subdivision regulations into the Dolores County Development Code/Land Use Regulations (DCDLUR) and asked for a temporary moratorium on new submissions while revisions proceed. "This moratorium also exempts any application that has been received by the county prior to today," staff said, noting one existing application (a campground) would not be affected.
