Council approves Baker Tilly engagement to support LIT/must task force, conditional on city cost share
Council voted to engage Baker Tilly for up to $30,000 to facilitate a county task force on local income tax (LIT) and other 'must' guidance; Shannon moved to proceed conditional on the City of Newcastle agreeing to pay half the cost and the motion carried unanimously.

Shannon explained that state legislation requested counties and municipalities provide input on LIT structures and recommended hiring Baker Tilly to facilitate a local task force and produce the analysis and report the state requested. She said the proposal is $30,000 and that she asked city council representative Rex Peckinpah whether the city would consider paying half; the motion at council was to approve the engagement conditional on the city sharing 50 percent of the cost.
