Randy Allen, Rutherford County’s newly sworn mayor, opened the Sept. 14 planning commission meeting with a wide‑ranging appeal for long‑term planning and fiscal restraint. “Our county is growing, but growth by itself is not progress,” Allen said, asking commissioners to "think in terms of decades, not days."
