Commissioners direct replacement of rooftop compressor, review multiple change orders for Government Center project

During the Building and Grounds weekly update, staff reported on ongoing Government Center work and several needed repairs and change orders. Jason Patchet presented options for a rooftop unit compressor at the Children Services building: a repair estimate of $5,331 versus replacement for $20,405. Commissioners directed Patchet to proceed with replacement at $20,405.

The update also covered safety and finish items for the Government Center and Veterans Garage, staffing for janitorial services, and multiple change orders. Notable cost figures in the minutes include a fencing and parking-bollards change order quote from Charles Construction for $101,442.31 (the contractor sought five additional calendar days; staff proposed zero additional days and to treat the work as punch-list items), and a quoted long-distance gate access control unit for $1,118.89. Smaller change orders recorded include $333.50 to relocate a door in the Recorder's Office and $949.37 for Domestic Relations Court service windows. Commissioners asked staff to prepare change orders and to review contract language with Bricker Graydon before issuing them to contractors.
