Chelsea planning staff advances draft tree-preservation plan, seeks parcel-level canopy priorities

At an Aug. 4 planning commission work session, staff presented a revised, nonbinding tree-preservation plan and asked commissioners to mark parcel-level canopy-priority zones. Parks & Rec suggested protecting open space at Timbbertown and succession planning for Pierce Park.

Michelle, a city planner presenting the draft plan, opened the discussion by describing a more polished version of the document and a parcel-level canopy-priority map the public had helped to shape. She said the plan is intended as policy guidance, not an ordinance, and asked commissioners to mark areas they think should be prioritized for planting and preservation.
