County authorizes Lilac Festival funding; legislators press administration on security measures

The committee approved an amendment to prior resolutions to provide funding to Lilac Festival Inc., authorize an intermunicipal agreement with the City of Rochester and permit an interdepartmental transfer. Legislator Smith asked whether festival security was adequate after several incidents this year; a public-safety/parks administration official said security was a priority, that promoters contract security and that the festival generally proceeded without incident but the last two hours saw several occurrences inside the grounds.
