Chester Board exempts potluck food permits from temporary-fee requirement

The Board of Health voted to waive the $50 temporary food permit fee for potluck events that are labeled 'food not inspected by the BOH' and list ingredients; the change applies to small, typically nonprofit events and reduces inspection requirements for such potlucks.

Clerk Elizabeth Massa explained the town's potluck-permit option: "the Potluck Permit option for food permits does not require inspections as they need to be labeled 'food not inspected by the BOH' and are labeled with ingredients and are usually baked goods or crock pot meals for small events and usually by non-profit entities." Chair Nicholas Chiusano moved that "potluck permits will be exempt from fees," and the board voted to approve the exemption.
