Monroe Community College on Friday celebrated the opening of the Side Door Optics Advanced Technology Center, a 110,000-square-foot applied-technology facility funded by a mixture of state dollars, philanthropies and industry partners and billed as a workforce pipeline for optics, HVAC, automotive and precision manufacturing.

Monroe Community College on Friday formally opened the Side Door Optics Advanced Technology Center, a 110,000-square-foot facility that college leaders said will house programs in optical technology, automotive technology, precision machining, HVAC and renewable energy. "This 110,000 square feet facility creates a state of the art home for programs in optical technology, automotive technology, precision machining, HVAC, and renewable energy," Allen Williams, chair of the MCC Board of Trustees, said.
