The full story
Dr. Howard and Miss Horner briefed trustees on efforts to establish a Juvenile Justice Alternative Education Program (JJEP) with Midland County. The district’s draft emphasizes meeting mandatory and discretionary placement needs, using the district calendar (173 instructional days), tiered per‑student costs (district draft estimated $118/day by tier), and placements for ages up to 17 so students can complete credits. The county’s draft proposed a county‑wide cap of 10 seats (7 for MISD), required formal adjudication for placement, used a different calendar, and proposed a flat $348/day fee.
