Director flags Heartland Heights affordability issues, relays outreach to state representative

In the director's report, staff said local coverage highlighted affordability challenges at the Heartland Heights development and emphasized the need to consider rural practicality in housing programs. The Director said she spoke with Representative Michelle Fishbach about the legislation and stressed that program rules sometimes make rural participation difficult: "I did have an opportunity to chat with her a little bit about that specific legislation and, highlighted for her that in theory it looks really good, but once you get people with rules that, they tend to make them difficult for small rural communities to do," the Director said.
