Explore Elgin Area President and CEO Chrisley Murphy told the Community and Economic Affairs Commission on Sept. 14 that the state-certified convention and visitors bureau represents a regional marketing effort covering 11 communities and is funded entirely by hotel tax. "We are funded a 100% by hotel tax," Murphy said, asking municipalities to submit letters of support to maintain the bureau's service-area designation.
