The council approved Resolution 26-09-02R directing staff to build an interim, evidence-based data-center readiness and responsible-development framework, require council notification on major commitments, and pursue technical consultants and public engagement.

On Sept. 10 the Pecos City Council adopted Resolution 26-09-02R to begin a formal, staff-led process to evaluate data-center proposals and develop a responsible-development and readiness framework. Interim City Manager Nicole Ferini told the council the resolution is intended to put process before hard policy: the resolution directs staff to fill key information gaps (water, energy, air quality thresholds), coordinate with county and utilities, and return to council with recommendations and draft ordinances.
