Commission flags cracking, settlement at Merrill Field monument; seeks cost estimates and preservation advice

Commission members reported that the large memorial at Merrill Field shows cracking and settlement and discussed measures to stabilize the monument and reduce risk to visitors. One commissioner described the condition: "The monument itself, has has taken on, way too much weight, I think, or something because it's just kinda come apart. The concrete needs to be redone or somehow stabilized." That participant also noted the lights and some electrical work had been fixed by the airport manager but pavement and other repairs remain.
