Montgomery council meets: no public comments; budget and tax rates approved
At a brief meeting with no public speakers during hearings, the City of Montgomery council adopted the FY2026–27 operating budget and set the 2026 M&O, debt-service, and overall ad valorem tax rates.

The council opened two public hearings — one on the proposed FY2026–27 operating budget and one on the proposed 2026 tax rate — and closed both with no public speakers. The presiding officer said, "Seeing that no one's coming to the podium, we will go ahead and close this public hearing." The council then adopted the operating budget and separately adopted the M&O rate (0.3301 per $100), the debt-service rate (0.0699 per $100), and the overall tax rate (0.4000 per $100).
