Brookings resident Gordon Clay urged the Curry County Board of Commissioners to prioritize mental health and prevention as part of a presentation at the Sept. 15 meeting. Clay cited state and county suicide-rate figures and encouraged simple interventions, saying, "are you okay?" in urging people to start conversations and listen.
