Committee hears parking and accessibility concerns about off‑site remodel at West Bend school sites

Sep 16, 2026

Staff showed two West Bend school buildings under consideration for off‑site remodeling and warned of parking shortfalls (about 140 stalls vs an estimated 165 staff need) and circulation/level changes that would make access harder for clients with mobility challenges; purchase terms with the school district are not negotiated.

The full story

Scott walked the committee through two potential off‑site sites in the City of West Bend, identifying building ages (one with portions from the 1930s, 1950s and 1970s; the other from the 1980s) and generally good structural condition. He warned that parking could be a significant constraint: the site has roughly 140 stalls but staff estimated a need closer to 165 for staff alone, before client parking is counted. "You'll see in the packet, a lot of information ... there's 2 different buildings there," Scott said while orienting members to site photos, and he emphasized the circulation issues for clients with mobility needs.
