Design team shows cluster layout, learning labs and library sized for 1,335 students

Sep 15, 2026

Designers presented new interior renderings for the Pollard Middle School: cluster model with ~85–90 students per cluster (about 1,335 total for grades 6–8), learning labs in corridors, dispersed special-education spaces, a library sized for about 20,000 volumes, and a cafeteria planned for three lunch periods.

The full story

Design staff walked the committee through interior renderings that illustrate the project's educational approach and capacity. The cluster model groups roughly 85–90 students per cluster, with five clusters per grade, which staff said equates to about 1,335 students in grades 6–8. Learning lab spaces are embedded in circulation to enable flexible small‑group and interdisciplinary work, and special‑education spaces are dispersed across the building to avoid concentration in a single area.
