Sep 14, 2026
Council will consider a Procurement Procedures Policy that defines procurement thresholds, purchase-order requirements, contract approval levels (contracts $15,000+ to Council), public-works rules, and references to Nevada Revised Statutes (NRS Chapters 332 and 338).
The full story
The Sept. 14 packet includes a proposed Procurement Procedures Policy for the City of Yerington that would govern purchases, contracts and public-works projects. The draft states core principles—ethical conduct, equal opportunity, fiscal responsibility—and maps procurement thresholds to required methods and approvals. It specifies that purchases under $10,000 do not require purchase orders, purchases of $10,000 or more require a purchase order, contracts or task orders at or over $15,000 will go to the City Council for approval, and purchases over $100,000 require formal competitive bidding per NRS. The policy also includes public-works bidding thresholds (e.g., $25,000 or less: solicitation from at least one licensed contractor; $25,000–$100,000: solicitation of at least three licensed contractors) and notes prevailing-wage applicability in accordance with NRS 338.080.
