County Mayor Barry Austin presented a reorganization of the commission’s committee assignments at the special meeting on Sept. 8, 2026, dividing commissioners into three committees with defined topic areas. Mayor Austin read the membership lists for Committee A (Solid Waste, Ambulance Service, School, Tourism, Insurance, Jail & Law Enforcement), Committee B (Fire Protection, Agriculture, Veterans, Highways, Park & Recs, Building & Grounds), and Committee C (Budget).
