Council approves contract-allowed 3.4% garbage rate increase
Temple City council approved a contract-allowed 3.4% increase to residential garbage rates, after staff confirmed the correct CPI-U calculation and that the contractor's 4% letter reflected a separate request.

The chair presided over approval of the consent agenda that included a contract-allowed garbage rate increase of 3.4% implemented beginning Oct. 1, 2026. Miss Jacobson, introduced by the chair as Miss Jacobson, explained that while the contractor submitted a letter requesting a 4% increase, the contract formula using the CPI-U yields a 3.4% increase and she had sent a letter to GFL requesting they review that difference.
