Supervisors approved a side letter with the Deputy Sheriffs Association that authorizes qualified dispatchers to serve as training officers and receive a 5% premium for hours spent training; staff said departmental vacancies make the premium necessary.

The board approved a side letter agreement with the Sutter County Deputy Sheriffs Association authorizing assignment of qualified public safety dispatcher II employees to act as training officers with a 5% salary premium for training hours; the side letter also establishes a field training officer premium for community service officers should the need arise. Veronica Baumgartner presented the side letter and said the sheriff’s office is experiencing staffing shortages in the communications division that make the temporary premium necessary.
