Residents press commissioners over tearoom rezoning; item delayed for buffering study

The commission took up a request to rezone roughly 0.46 acres on N. Ocoee Street from PI (Professional Institutional) to CN (Neighborhood Commercial) to allow a proposed tearoom and southern‑style restaurant. Robert Varnell, Planning and Community Development Director, said CN offers tools (hour restrictions, lighting standards) that better protect adjacent residences than PI for the proposed restaurant use.
