Keystone Heights CRA schedules workshop to update redevelopment plan for March 27

The City of Keystone Heights Community Redevelopment Agency agreed by consensus to hold a workshop on March 27 at 6 p.m. to update its redevelopment plan, officials said at the CRA meeting on March 3. The clerk stated, "By consensus, I have changed it to March 27 at 6PM."

Council members and staff said the meeting is intended to refresh — not restart — the existing plan so the agency can decide which projects remain priorities. Staff emphasized the practical consequence: "You cannot spend CRA money if it is not in your plan," noting that projects must be listed to be eligible for CRA funding. The chair also told members that a separate 2015 version of the plan had been found and should be reviewed during the workshop.

The date followed several rounds of scheduling discussion. Staff had earlier proposed multiple March and April dates and flagged staff availability; members briefly agreed to an April 29 option but ultimately set March 27 after considering spring-break and other calendar conflicts. Council members asked staff to outline next steps after the workshop, including the notification and advertising required for plan amendments and the timeline for adoption.

Next procedural steps identified at the meeting included drafting the proposed amendments, notifying taxing authorities and other stakeholders, scheduling a public hearing and confirming statutory advertisement requirements before a final adoption vote.
