Harris County Public Health briefed Galena Park ISD’s School Health Advisory Council on HEART, an unarmed alternative first‑responder unit, and RISE, a credible‑messenger outreach and hospital‑based intervention program, describing staffing, call types, outreach zones and expansion into Cloverleaf.
The board approved TASB localized policy manual update 01/26 at first and final reading. The changes reflect multiple state laws, including new agenda‑posting rules, limits on certain contractor duties tied to DEI, cybersecurity and AI provisions, and adjustments to purchasing thresholds.
District facilities staff and the project architect presented site and floor‑plan designs for the Cimarron Elementary replacement, including an underground detention system, sidewalk easements, phased construction to keep the school in operation during work, and plans for abatement and demolition of the existing building after occupancy.
