Superintendent William Hart and Assistant Superintendent Margaret Adams presented a plan to offer free full‑day preschool beginning in September, proposing multi‑age and full‑day models, enrollment procedures and a March registration/May lottery; the committee voted to add the policy as a line item on the February agenda for a formal vote.

Sixth-grade students from Whittier School presented a cross-curricular unit tying an ELA study of historical yellow fever accounts to hands-on science experiments observing bacterial growth, telling the School Committee the work strengthened reading, evidence use and scientific thinking.

The Everett School Committee discussed a drafted statement rebutting public comments that questioned Superintendent William Hart’s licensure and unanimously voted (8-0) to refer the draft back to its sponsor for revision, after debate about naming an individual and free-speech limits.
The committee voted unanimously to accept two $300 donations for students in need and to submit and pay bills and payroll totaling $1,252,275.94; motions to waive readings and to enter executive session to approve prior executive-session minutes also passed.
