The North Carolina Coastal Counties Fishing Coalition met to review subcommittee work on education, limits and water quality, legislative strategy and accreditation/predation management. Major substantive items included proposed blue crab harvest restrictions from the Division of Marine Fisheries and a draft resolution for coalition counties to adopt in opposition, upcoming public comment dates, concerns about sheephead management and the states use of proclamations instead of rulemaking, and discussion of invasive/ predatory species (blue catfish, cormorants). The coalition authorized the chair to finalize and distribute resolutions, appointed additional technical consultants, and set the next meeting for Feb. 4, 2026.
