The City of Margate City Commission met Nov. 5, 2025. After a lengthy program of employee and student recognitions the commission held a long public-comment period focused on a contaminated golf-course redevelopment and separate construction dust complaints at the Executive Golf Course. The commission advanced a package of land-use and zoning ordinances on first reading that would allow redevelopment of the Carolina Golf Course into mixed-use (townhomes, neighborhood commercial and large permanent open space); votes were 3–2 in favor on both ordinances. First readings were approved despite vocal opposition citing contamination, dust, traffic and school impacts. The development agreement public hearing was opened and continued to a June 17, 2026, follow-up; other routine consent and budget items passed.
