Jackson County Zoning Commission held a public hearing on a comprehensive textual update to the county zoning ordinance. Staff presented a reorganization and modernization of the code intended to align with the county comprehensive plan and Iowa law, add definitions and graphics, consolidate regulations and add a burial-site screening process tied to the Office of the State Archaeologist. The commission voted to approve the draft ordinance and forward the recommendation to the Board of Supervisors for their public hearing.
