At its Nov. 13, 2025 special meeting, the Hancock County Commission approved routine business including audit services, several hires and fee adjustments, and voted to transfer operation of the county animal shelter to the Jefferson County Humane Society, with contract signing occurring at the meeting. A representative from the National Youth Advocate Program urged residents to consider fostering.
