Chair called the meeting to order, announced the date/time, and introduced first reading of Ordinance 2509 to delete and replace Ordinance 24-10 (amending chapter 8 of the Lane Code) to extend the Comcast of Oregon 2 cable franchise term to 06/30/2027; staff (Emily) corrected the wording that the ordinance deletes and replaces the prior ordinance rather than 'delegating.'
Lane County commissioners held a regular meeting that included a first reading to extend Comcast's cable franchise and an extended presentation and discussion about replacing the Short Mountain landfill electricity plant with a WAGA renewable natural gas (RNG) system and potential siting of the Clean Lane facility at Short Mountain. The board set a second reading/public hearing for Jan. 6, 2026 and requested more cost and financing detail for the landfill/RNG proposals before taking action next week.
