The Mayor's Committee for People with Disabilities met Jan. 9, 2026 in Austin to approve minutes, set a budget working group to draft funding recommendations (including support for the Ability Festival, an accessible restroom project at a local facility, and therapeutic recreation), and to propose legislative priorities for 2027 including Medicaid expansion and polling-place accessibility. The committee also discussed coordinating with the Commission on Aging and scheduling an ADA presentation and a commemoration for Bob Kafka.
